Eastern Passage has a lot to offer in terms of activities and events.

“Eastern Passage has so much to offer, and unless you live here, you may not even realize it,” said Jackie Barkhouse, HRM District 8 Councillor. “In fact, some people who live here don’t even realize it!”

Residents and visitors enjoy visiting the boardwalk as well as Fisherman’s Cove. Here you can enjoy the shops, galleries, and eating establishments and watch the fishing boats come in. From here, you can take a boat ride out to McNab’s Island, where you can enjoy a picnic or hike the trails on the island.

There are beaches in the Eastern Passage and Cow Bay area, which is a popular hot spot for surfers.

The area also hosts a very active soccer league and basketball league.

The Tallahassee Centre offers programs for preschoolers, including active play groups, dance class and soccer. Programs for children include cooking classes, crafts, dance, drama, arts and sport. For youth, they offer babysitter’s training and yoga. And programs for adults include Nordic Walking workshops and yoga.

On Saturday, Eastern Passage will host the first annual Seaside Harvest Festival at Fisherman’s Cove.

“It is going to be fantastic,” Barkhouse said.

The festival will include musical entertainment by local artists, including Korean Drum Band, Kim Wempe, The Reprecussionists, Steven Bowers, and Telfer. There will also be a Farmers’ Market, an art walk, pumpkin carving, story-telling, chartered boat tours and a scavenger hunt.
Most of the activities at the festival will be free to the public, including the boat tours and the pumpkins for the carving contest.
