Adobe among best employers

If you look at the list of the National Capital Region’s top 25 employers, you’ll see Adobe Systems Canada Inc. right on top.

Granted, it’s published in alphabetical order, but a company doesn’t make the list unless it has an exceptional track record in employee satisfaction.

According to Walter Pranke, the senior human resources manager for Adobe in Ottawa, there are several reasons why the firm is on the list, including “compensation and benefits that are second to none.”

Some of the reasons cited by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, who publish the local list, are physical workspace and training and skills development, both of which are rated as “exceptional” with Adobe. Work atmosphere and communications, financial benefits and compensation, as well as employee engagement have also been deemed “above average.”

In all of the categories, Adobe was given no grade lower than a B+, and five of the eight categories were rated an A or higher.

“I think what Adobe offers is an environment where you are continually challenged in your work,” said Pranke. “You are rewarded and recognized for the impact and contribution that you make to the organization.”

Adobe strongly encourages extracurricular charitable activities, and has several incentives for its employees to do so.

“Our employees are encouraged to volunteer during their work days,” said Jody Chantler, spokesperson for the Ottawa office. “We have a program called ‘match the gift,’ where we match any contribution, dollar to dollar up to $5,000 per employee per year, that an employee contributes.”
