The Vancouver Aquarium yesterday released photos of Springer, a young orca who was discovered eight years ago off Seattle’s waterfront. The two-year-old whale was orphaned and starving.

At the time, the story of her capture and rehabilitation made international headlines.

Funds to help save the now-10-year-old orca were donated through the Vancouver Aquarium’s Killer Whale Adoption Program.
