AGA goes Looney Tunes this summer

Speedy Gonzales, Bugs Bunny, artists, and art lovers from Alberta, Canada and around the world are going to paint Edmonton red this summer.

The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) announced the launch of six summer exhibitions that will explore the past, present and future of Alberta and international art.

“Building on our remarkable opening, the gallery staff continue to seek out and present the best art from our region, Canada and beyond,” said AGA executive director Gilles Hébert in a release. “And we intend to build on our amazing momentum.”

Three floors of exhibitions will run from May until November, presenting the work of artists like Albertan anti-war multidisciplinary Sandra Bromley, and world-renown graphic artist M.C. Escher.

From June 19 until Oct. 11, the AGA intends to brings generations together by reuniting them with the stars of their childhood through The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons.

Exploring the history of the most famous cartoon characters, the exhibition features 165 objects used in the making of the North American cult classics.
