The 28-year-old female passenger involved in a motor vehicle collision Saturday outside of Airdrie died in a Calgary hospital, said police.

The 31-year-old driver, her four-month-old-son and the 28-year-old passenger were struck in their Hyundai Elantra head-on by a red GMC pickup truck.

The collision occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on Highway 566 between Range Road 11 and Range Road 12.

The 30-year-old male driver of the pickup has been treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a Calgary hospital.

Road conditions at the time of the collision were slushy and slippery. It is still unknown whether reduced visibility due to falling snow was a factor in the crash.

Police are asking that anyone with information on the driving pattern of the red GMC truck prior to the collision contact Const. Fetterman at (403) 945-7207.
