Role: Top military leader of al Qaeda.

Location: Somalia
East Africa’s leader of al Qaeda. Also involved in the Kenya and Tanzania attacks. Linked with Islamists in Somalia.

Age: 39
Nationality: United States
Suspected location: Yemen
A Yemeni radical preacher born in the U.S. One of the leaders of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Adam Yahiye Gadahn
Age: 32
Nationality: United States
Californian convert to Islam, dubbed al Qaeda’s “American spokesman.” Accused by the U.S. of treason, “terrorist activities” and supporting al Qaeda.

Fahd Mohammed Ahmed al-Quso
Age: 36
Nationality: Yemen
Current leader of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and suspected of plotting an attack on USS Cole in the Gulf of Aden in 2000.

Ali Saeed Bin Ali al-Hooriyeh
Age: 46
Nationality: Saudi Arabia
Involved in Khobar Towers truck bombing in 1996, which killed 19 U.S. service personnel at a military housing complex in Saudi Arabia.
