More Albertans ate out during the month of May as compared to April, according to a report released on Thursday by Statistics Canada.

Alberta showed a 1.9 per cent increase in recorded sales for food and drink services — the second highest in Canada next to Saskatchewan, which had a 2.1 per cent increase.

Nationally, sales in food and drink services jumped slightly by 0.1 per cent to nearly $4.1 billion, while the price of food in restaurants dropped 0.1 per cent.

While there was an increase in food services in Canada, sales in drinking place dropped 1.1 per cent.
