Calgary BarWatch has been successful in its first five months, but there are still a few bars causing problems, according to a city alderman.
After a community and protective services meeting yesterday updating the progress of the anti-bar violence program, Ward 8 Ald. John Mar said he was pleased to see the group approach to decreasing bar violence is working.
“Absolutely, the initiative has been working well and most of the bars are doing their part,” Mar said, but acknowledged there are still a few bars that aren’t pulling their weight.
“Some clubs are more problematic than others, but they aren’t necessarily (downtown).”
There will be another update on the progress of the program in March, 2010.
