Alderman wants more road repairs

A city alderman is hoping there’s room in the 2010 budget for road improvements in his area.

Ward 2 Ald. Gord Lowe wants to create a better road network for truck traffic coming from the northwest.

“We’ve been talking with industry representatives and stakeholders and we’ve come up with some improvements that would facilitate the movement of aggregate,” Lowe said.

He said a better road network would mean gravel can be moved into the city easier.

Lowe’s motion asks that the 2010 budget include intersection improvements especially along 144 Avenue NW.

The improvements, he said, will make life easier for truck drivers and “get the gravel trucks out of the communities.”
