All aboard for some fun

The lights will shine bright for the holidays in Stanley Park this Friday when the 13th annual Bright Nights gets underway.

The joint event between the Vancouver Park Board and the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund aims to raise $200,000 for the charity.

More than 500 firefighters from around the province have volunteered more than 8,000 hours to set up lights and operate the displays.

The park will be illuminated by more than three million lights, mostly LEDs.

More than 250,000 visitors are expected to attend this year’s Canada-themed event, which features hot cider, roasted chestnuts and a stilt performance by Mortal Coil.

Donations will be accepted at the gate.

Tickets, which include admission to the children’s farmyard and a train ride, are available at ticketmaster.ca and at the ticket office on the train plaza.
