It’s a casual neighbourhood hangout and a cornerstone in the Glebe that is a busy café and bakery. And it caters to people with different tolerances for gluten, sugar and wheat.
Bakery side, you can choose from a buffet that varies daily. The day I was there, there was vegetarian chili, cacciatore and Brussels sprouts with wholegrain mustard and maple syrup.
Knowing I wanted to try a dessert later, I dished up a small bowl of the Fall Cacciatore. It was filled with tomato, zucchini, red pepper, garlic, eggplant, even more veggies and tasty spices. It was bursting with taste and flavour.
Café side, you can order from a menu of grilled sandwiches, crêpes and raw pizza. Bakery side, café side, any side, the Wild Oat is a quaint place to grab a hearty lunch.
