New Brunswick’s dream of a Saint John Sea Dogs-Moncton Wildcats matchup in the QMJHL final has become a reality.
The Sea Dogs completed a six-game semifinal victory over the Victoriaville Tigres last night in convincing fashion, winning 7-1 on home ice with a hat trick from league MVP Mike Hoffman.
Nicholas Petersen and Simon Despres added a goal and two assists apiece to help the Sea Dogs advance to their first final since joining the QMJHL as an expansion franchise in 2005-06.
The Wildcats had already advanced to the final on the weekend after dispensing of the defending champion Drummondville Voltigeurs in the other semifinal in five games.
