Alleged bawdy house busted in Halifax

Three people — including a 16-year-old girl — were arrested in a bawdy house raid early yesterday morning.

Spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter with Halifax Regional Police said they received a complaint on Wednesday afternoon.

Police investigated and allege they found something illegal was going on so it was turned over to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Vice Unit.

They got a search warrant and searched the building in the 1900 block of Brunswick Street at 1:44 a.m. Thursday.

“At that point, that’s when they arrested three individuals without incident,” Palmeter said.

A 20-year-old Truro woman was charged with keeping a common bawdy house.

Also a 20-year-old Dartmouth man and a 16-year-old girl from Truro are facing charges of being an inmate in a common bawdy house.

“What that means is they would either be a resident or regular occupant of the location,” Palmeter explained.

“It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re engaged (in the activities) or certainly not being held against their will.

“It would mean they should likely know what is going on.”
