American tourist killed during karaoke bar fight

An American tourist who insisted on singing with the karaoke band in a bar in Thailand was allegedly killed by one of the musicians.

A member of a local karaoke band in a beach town of Thailand reportedly stabbed the man to death.

According to police chief Col. Taksin Pchakorn, Bobby Ray Carter Jr., 51, a Texas native and his son Adam, 27, where visiting Krabi, Thailand and throwing back a few drinks at the Little Longhorn Saloon – a bar located near Ao Nang beach. Ao Nang is a popular spot for foreign tourists on the country’s west coast.

According to Gawker, the main attraction of the bar is its live karaoke band that takes requests.

“Witnesses say Carter got angry when the band played ‘Hotel California’ instead of the song he requested, and he refused to step down,” Col. Pachakorn is quoted saying.

When the bank took a break, Carter reportedly took command of the stage and refused to let anyone on. That’s when a fight broke out between Carter and the band members. The fight eventually was taken outside and that’s when Carter was stabbed in the chest with an iron rod. He was pronounced DOA at a local hospital.

Police officers arrested the three suspected assailants. They were charged with causing death by physical attack.
