With Amherst set to become an aerospace hub, the town’s mayor is hoping the Nova Scotia Community College will enhance training opportunities available out of Amherst’s satellite campus.

Rob Small, who is also an executive at IMP Aerospace, is urging the province to set up a pilot project in Amherst that would provide training for area aerospace companies like IMP, C-Vision and Bradean Tool and Die Manufacturing.

“The basis for the training I’m looking to see would help all the manufacturing industries, but would have an aerospace focus,” Small said, adding the proposed aerospace institute would operate under the community college.
