Re: "Province aims at ammunition laws," Apr. 2:
It was a sad surprise to learn that Supt. Chris Wyatt of the Ontario Provincial Police doesn’t know that, under federal law, any ammunition purchaser must provide the seller a valid firearms licence and that Ontario is not the only province that requires to provide it.

In fact, the Ontario Ammunition Act doesn’t even mention the firearms licence, and driving to Quebec doesn’t make any difference, as federal law is good for all provinces and territories of Canada.
According to Liberal MPP Brad Duguid, the OPP would like to see more laws in regards to ammunition sales, but why would the OPP want this if they don’t even know the current law?
Suddenly, the police’s poor record of fighting skyrocketing drug- and gang-related violence and inability to catch real criminals doesn’t surprise me anymore.
