Norma Lombardo clutched to her chest a weathered frame plucked from the rubble of her tornado-ravaged home in Vaughan.

“This is my little guardian angel,” she said, fighting back tears.

The faded photograph, paired with a small picture of the Virgin Mary, is of her daughter Stephanie, who died in 1980 when she was just 10 days old. It’s one of her most valued possessions.

“I’ve been looking for days and days,” she said yesterday, standing on a Houston Road sidewalk.

Lombardo’s home was one of more than 600 damaged in Vaughan when a twister roared through. Mayor Linda Jackson said yesterday that 38 homes still remain uninhabitable and a handful will have to be demolished.
