Anders not in the wrong: Tory

Calgary West Conservative MP Rob Anders did nothing wrong when he sent a letter out discouraging members from supporting a nomination contest, the president of the party said.

Don Plett, president of the Conservative Party of Canada, was defending Anders actions after he sent out letters to members asking them not to respond to the nomination ballot last week.

“Anders did not use the party resources, he used his own resources and in my opinion he didn’t do anything inappropriately,” Plett said.

His comments come as Anders came under fire from Donna Kennedy-Glans, who is seeking to challenge for the Tory nomination. She said he used the membership list “inappropriately.”

But Plett said Kennedy-Glans comments are “purely personal” and said she holds no official status, whereas Anders has access to the list as a member of Parliament.
