An adult male is dead following a late afternoon fire yesterday at a Dartmouth apartment building.
Firefighters were called to 112 Pinecrest Dr., just after 5 p.m., and according to Halifax Regional Fire platoon Chief Mike Blackburn, they encountered heavy smoke coming from one of the two third-floor apartments when they arrived.
Blackburn said they quickly put out the fire, with one person found dead inside.
Blackburn said “two people occupied the apartment,” but there were no other injuries. He wouldn’t say where the fire might have started or where the body was found.
No other apartments in the building suffered damage, he said.
The identity of the victim hasn’t been released. Halifax Regional Police issued a release last night only stating the victim “is believed to be an adult male.”
Both police and fire investigators were investigating the blaze last evening.
