Whether you’re a downtown office worker, a budding young art student or a tourist visiting Calgary, the city wants to show you Calgary’s artistry.
Calgarians with an iPhone will be able to use the device’s GPS technology to tour the downtown core’s most famous works with photographs, an audio guide and details about the artist who created it.
“These experiences make Calgary’s art collection more accessible to the public and attract new audiences,” says Quyen Hoang, the program co-ordinator.
One aspiring artist from Calgary, Mia Koegler, said she would use the application.
“I think that Calgarians are interested in art, but they won’t really know where to go to find it.”
Koegler also said tourists who come to Calgary often don’t realize the city has quite a developed art scene, and this program would help them see the city in a different light.
