Apple sent out invitations today to an iPhone special event on Sept. 10, most likely the launch of two new models of the iPhone. Apple asked assembler Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. to start shipping two models of the new iPhone in September, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The special event will begin at 10 a.m. PST at the Apple Campus in Cupertino, Calif. Apple launched new iPhones in the fall of 2011 and in 2012. The phones usually hit stores a week and a half after the product launches.

Rumors indicate that the iPhone 5S will be an upgraded version of the iPhone 5, featuring an improved camera and hardware, as well as two new color options – champagne gold and graphite – in addition to the classic black and white models. The other model, the 5C, is rumored to be a cheaper version of the iPhone with a plastic backing and more basic hardware, available in several different colors.

Blogger Sonny Dickson of Australia has allegedly gotten his hands on Apple 5S and 5C parts, much to Apple’s chagrin. The teenager has posted several photos of the metal iPhone 5Sbackings and candy-colored iPhone 5C exteriors on his blog and claims he received the parts directly from sources within Apple’s supply chain in China.

Dickson told Fortunethat he is under surveillance by Apple and Homeland Security: He said computers based in Cupertino visited his blog more than 900 times last month, and Homeland Security visited 67 times.
