The Vancouver Aquarium is doing its small part to keep the landfill slim and trim thanks to its internal compost program, which diverted the equivalent of 18 city buses worth of garbage from the dump this year.
“We want to be the model for environmentally responsible organizations,” said John Nightingale, president of the aquarium.
This year, 100 per cent of the products used by the aquarium café are compostable. Even deskside garbage containers have been removed to encourage composting and recycling practices.
