Arrest made in Algonquin College hit-and-run

A city man now faces several charges after a man
suffered two broken legs during a hit-and-run incident at Algonquin
College early Wednesday morning.

Police were called to an incident where a 20-year-old
man had allegedly been run over by a vehicle in reverse and suffered
two broken legs. Police said Thursday the victim is recovering in
hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the driver involved in the collision was not at the scene, but that they arrested a man a short distance away.

A 40-year-old Ottawa man faces charges of criminal
negligence causing bodily harm, fail stop – leave accident scene –
failing to give name and public mischief.

Mohamed Amer, 40, next appears in court on Aug. 24.
