Arrest made in liquor store stabbing

The nephew of a man stabbed during a robbery Tuesday night said the patron who intervened in the attack is a “lifesaver.”

Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly entered the Deeps Liquor Store off 32nd Avenue and 60th Street NE and, after a brief struggle, stabbed the owner, Sukjhit Hansi, before an unidentified “regular” hit the suspect over the head with a bottle.

“The man was a lifesaver. I think it could have been a lot worse if he didn’t step in,” nephew Navdeep Singh told Metro, adding his uncle was recovering and ready to get back to work.

Jesse Douglas Nelson, 29, is facing with three counts of robbery in relation to three bank heists last month.
