They came to Canada from far away — she from the Philippines, he from Ecuador — but police say they were strangers until she was killed inside a Mississauga mansion this fall.
Jocelyn Dulnuan, 27, had been working as a live-in housekeeper, sending money back to her family overseas. She had arrived in the Greater Toronto Area 13 months ago.
But on Oct. 1, someone broke into the massive home on Doulton Place where she had been working since June, "forcibly confined" Dulnuan, then stole jewelry and cash, Peel Region police Insp. Norm English said yesterday. He wouldn’t say how she died. Her body was discovered in the basement living quarters.
After an intense investigation, Peel officers arrested Cristian Figueroa, 35, on a Toronto street on Monday afternoon. Yesterday, he was charged with first-degree murder.
