Arrest made in New Year’s Day triple homicide

A man has been arrested in relation to a triple homicide on New Year’s Day which saw an innocent man gunned down in broad daylight.

According to police, the man was arrested without incident in the city’s northwest and while formal charges weren’t laid as of last night, they expected to lay three first-degree murder charges.

“The person arrested was known to our gang unit … but hasn’t been labelled a gang member through the courts,” police spokesman Kevin Brookwell said.

The public was outraged by the murders. Innocent bystander Keni Su’a was killed as part of an ongoing gang feud in an apparent targeted attack on two others known to the gang unit.

“I think it’s an indignity that an innocent person who was minding his own business enjoying lunch, was shot. Certainly, if there was any question to public outrage, it would be the additional assault that occurred,” Brookwell said.
