Top-seeded Mary-Anne Arsenault won both of her games on opening day of the Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts at the Bridgewater Curling Club yesterday.

The Mayflower skip edged clubmate Mary Mattatall 7-6 in the afternoon draw, then took down Glooscap’s Jocelyn Nix 7-5 in a tight evening affair. Arsenault, who skipped a different rink to a Scotties championship last year, is tied atop the standings with Truro’s Colleen Pinkney (2-0).

Locked in a second-place tie with 1-1 records on opening day are Mattatall, Mayflower’s Jill Mouzar and Sarah Rhyno, and Dartmouth’s Nancy McConnery.

Nix and Mayflower’s Margaret Cutcliffe are tied for last at 0-2 .
