Attack victim gets last laugh

Police say a male cashier who had a knife pulled on him just before midnight Monday turned the tables on his would-be-attacker — grappling the person to the floor.

Police say a male cashier who had a knife pulled on him just before midnight Monday turned the tables on his would-be-attacker — grappling the person to the floor.

The incident took place at a store in the 7100 block of Chebucto Road, with the suspect fleeing the scene after the altercation.

Const. Brian Palmeter of Halifax Regional Police said yesterday they don’t believe robbery was a motive for the attack, with the cashier believed to be the intended victim.

Police say when the alleged attacker fled, a witness followed the man to a nearby address on Quinpool Road where officers set up containment around the building he was in. The suspect then exited, according to police, and surrendered without incident.
