It was almost a perfect getaway.
Halifax Regional Police said they arrived at the 6300 block of Quinpool Road Wednesday night after a man was assaulted. As patrols arrived, the suspect in the assault tried to flee the area by flagging down two people in a nearby vehicle who were “only too happy to assist,” according to a police report.
The people in the vehicle were undercover police officers.
Police say the man was quickly arrested without incident and was charged with assault. The victim was not injured.
The officers were members of the Halifax Regional Police Quick Response Unit. The members of the unit usually work in plain clothes and address crime and quality of life issues.
