Attention around Shannon Tweed continues ahead of KISS concert

It was supposed to be a just another stop on their Eastern-Canada tour, but somehow it’s turned into a circus, even for KISS.

The venerable glam rockers will be headlining Bluesfest on Wednesday
night, sandwiched between gigs in Montreal on Monday and Quebec City on
Thursday.

The difference between the Quebec shows and the one in Ottawa is that
Canadian-born model/actress Shannon Tweed — common-law spouse of lead
singer Gene Simmons and one-time Ottawa resident — is coming along.

Initially, Tweed was planning a private dinner party with friends and maybe some sightseeing.

Then acting Mayor Doug Thompson revealed and retracted plans to
proclaim July 15 Shannon Tweed Day, which created national, if not
international news.

“Basically we’ve got 40 requests from Ottawa alone to do interviews
with Shannon,” said Ottawa photographer Paul Couvrette, who is helping
to organize the private dinner party. “We don’t have any time for it.
She’s coming, getting her hair done, going to lunch with friends.
Basically it’s a case where we’re trying to fit people in wherever we
can.”

With the proclamation abandoned, there are now plans to have Town Crier
Daniel Richer officially welcome Simmons and Tweed to Ottawa.
