Auto show daily attendance up

Organizers of the Vancouver International Auto Show at B.C. Place said they were pleased with the turnout at this year’s show despite a drop in the total attendance of about 34,000 people.

Daily attendance was up over last year and more than 76,000 people took in the event at B.C. Place this weekend.

The auto show, which traditionally ran nine days, introduced a six-day, extended-hour format this year.

“Considering all the changes in our industry, we are happy with the new show format,” said Blair Qualey, president of the New Car Dealers Association of B.C., in a release yesterday.

The auto show, which celebrated its 89th anniversary this year, showcased 500 new makes and models as well as auto products and concept vehicles.
