B.C. Ferries raises prices on routes

B.C. Ferries tickets are increasing tomorrow, with fares on its three major routes between Vancouver and the Island going up nearly four per cent.

The annual increase, which takes effect every April 1, will also raise fees on most other routes by more than seven per cent.

A one-way adult ticket between Vancouver and Victoria is going up to $13.50 from $13. The rate for vehicle passage is going up to $45 from $43.

Passengers on minor routes — which will see a larger fare increase — will be compensated with a fuel rebate. In 2007, B.C. Ferries commissioner Marty Crilly announced annual fare increases every year until 2012.
