B.C. Hydro will host a free downtown public celebration site during the 2010 Games, the Crown corporation announced Thursday.
The Power Smart Village, at B.C. Hydro’s head office in downtown Vancouver, will feature a sustainable dance floor that generates electricity as people dance. There will also be an outdoor theatre and a “home of the future” to showcase the newest innovations.
Two six-metre Salish carvings will welcome visitors to the village, which is located on Dunsmuir Street between Homer and Hamilton streets. It is located near the Vancouver’s Downtown LiveCity site and the Four Host First Nations pavilion.
It will operate through the Paralympics.
