Baby found in Quebec

A Port Coquitlam woman who disappeared last week with her baby girl was arrested in Quebec City for child abduction, Maple Ridge RCMP said yesterday.

Josee Villeneuve, 34, was arrested Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in a Quebec City apartment.

The woman’s 10-month-old daughter Annabella was safe and will be reunited with her father, Andrew Wong.

Villeneuve remains in custody and she will be returned to B.C. to face charges.

Prior to Villeneuve’s arrest, a private investigator in Burnaby was arrested for allegedly helping the woman catch a flight to Toronto.

Both women face abduction charges, RCMP said.

On April 21, Wong, the child’s legal caregiver, called police when his estranged wife did not return the baby.

During their investigation, police learned that Villeneuve had taken Annabella and flown to Toronto. They issued a Canada-wide warrant for her arrest.

The private investigator has been released from custody.
