An eight-month-old baby has suffocated in Surrey after being laid down in a queen-sized bed and rolling between the mattress and the wall, police said yesterday.

Police were called to the home on Sunday evening and found the baby in cardiac arrest.

The child was pronounced dead at hospital.

“The Surrey RCMP wish to remind all parents and caregivers of small children to exercise caution when considering a child’s sleeping arrangements,” police said in a press release yesterday.

Charges are not expected.
