The age-old advice of just being yourself certainly worked in the case of Shayne Dahl Lamas.
The 22-year-old actress captured the heart of Matt Grant, the bachelor on The Bachelor: London Calling, and the couple are now engaged.
“She’s just so kind and caring and considerate about all her friends and family — she’s also very confident and strong herself,” said Grant, a global financier from London. “It’s quite rare in Britain to have that balance without being arrogant and cocky and full of yourself.”
Unlike the last season of The Bachelor, where the man looking for love ended up not choosing anyone, this season’s suitor popped the question to his special lady.
Grant proposed to Lamas on Monday night’s finale of the reality show with a 2.85-carat Tacori platinum and diamond eternity ring (an estimated value of $60,000 US) — and she said yes.
All throughout The Bachelor: London Calling, Grant, the first-ever British Bachelor, has let the world know he’s crazy about American women.
Lamas, the daughter of actor Lorenza Lamas, proved to Grant she was the real deal by being herself every moment they were together, be it alone or surrounded by the other women vying for a piece of his heart. The 22-year-old actress also endured a dirty and physical game of rugby with the other contestants in a bid to gain his love.
So what was it that caught her eye besides Grant’s looks and charm?
“First of all, he’s handsome, and if you ever are in his presence his aura and his presence is just unbelievable, he’s just amazing,” said Lamas. “Just being in the same room with him, I mean his friends even say the same thing – and he’s very tall, too (6-foot-5). That’s great for short women because they can wear high heels.”
The couple plans on travelling a bit, and having homes in Los Angeles and in London, since they each have family in both places.
As for a wedding date, nothing has been set. Grant and Lamas want to spend some time getting to know each other better before tying the knot.
