The Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank is asking for the public’s help in addressing an urgent need for school supplies donations.

According to executive director Mel Boutilier, the food bank is in danger of being overwhelmed as the school year approaches.

“It comes down to a choice between buying school supplies and having enough money left over to pay the utilities, rent or putting meals on the table,” Boutilier said in a release.

He also said each year they see an increase in the number of families needing help.

Donations can be made at the 2415 Maynard St. location or by calling 425-2125.
