TORONTO – A website dedicated to backpacking in Canada was named best travel blog at the Canadian Tourism Commission’s GoMedia 2010 awards.
I Backpack Canada (http://ibackpackcanada.com) was praised for its tips and depth of Canadian travel stories.
Award judge Sree Sreenivasan, a digital media professor at New York City’s Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, said the site offers “useful advice and glimpses into unusual, enticing and, occasionally, scary places.”
The blog is created by Corbin Fraser, who describes himself as a part-time travel writer, web designer and musician — “a 20-something guy from the flatlands of Canada,” i.e. Saskatchewan.
