To perhaps no one’s surprise, Jamie Baillie will be the next leader of the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservatives.
Nominations closed for the Tory leadership race at 5 p.m. yesterday with only Baillie’s name on the ballot.
But at a press conference minutes later, Baillie said he hasn’t run a one-horse campaign.
“We have run a very energetic, dynamic leadership campaign,” he said, citing a criss-cross tour of Nova Scotia.
Baillie has been endorsed by almost every sitting MLA in the party, with the exception of former Interim leader Karen Casey, who could not endorse a leadership candidate, and Inverness MLA Allan MacMaster, who said he looked forward to working with the next leader.
