It’s a sign — or many of them — that the Vancouver Olympics are getting close.
The National Capital Commission unveiled Thursday the series of banners that will hang along Confederation Boulevard in the National Capital Region this summer.
The banners highlight the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and “will encourage all Canadians to share in the excitement and spirit of the games,” said Minister of State (Sport) Gary Lunn. “These will truly be Canada’s Games in 2010, and our government is proud to support this banner program.”
“These banners are a symbolic reminder to Canadians that the national capital serves as a window on the country,” said NCC CEO Marie Lemay.
“This partnership between the NCC and the government of Canada provides residents and visitors to the capital region with the opportunity to share in the Olympic spirit and celebrate the 2010 Canadian Winter Games.”
