Batting champ Greg West named league MVP

Dartmouth Moosehead Dry’s Greg West has been named the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League’s MVP.

The 36-year-old veteran first baseman/leftfielder captured his first batting title with a .451 average and a league-best 41 hits. He was also finished fourth with 25 runs, fifth with 18 RBI and tied for seconds with four home runs.

West was also named a first-team NSSBL all-star, one of six Dartmouth representatives on the squad.

Joel Irvine (third base), Chris Head (outfield), Darren Doucette (designated hitter), Matt McDonald (right-handed pitcher) and Randy Stewart (catcher) also cracked the squad.

The Halifax Pelham Molson Canadians placed three players on the team with Adam Lucas (second base), Ryan Veinot (shortstop) and Barrett Bellefontaine (left-handed pitcher).
