Visiting Strathcona Park will be no leisurely walk for Vancouver police dogs after a new obstacle course for four-legged officers was inaugurated yesterday.
Dr. Silvia Raschke, project leader, said the course will aid in building the dogs’ confidence, improving their abilities as well as the quality of training.
The VPD dog squad has 18 German shepherds on the force.
While training together, the canines build strong relationships with the officers, Sgt. Scott Hogg added of the police dog squad.
“The dogs have taught me a lot about myself (too).”
