Halifax RCMP are investigating a fatal car crash that killed a 20-year-old Bedford man whose 2010 Volkswagen Rabbit struck a utility pole on the Hammonds Plains Road Monday night.
Police say the single-vehicle accident occurred at 9:20 p.m. on the 1800 block with the 20-year-old dying en route to hospital. The victim was travelling west on the road when the accident took place.
“It looks like he lost control on the side of the road and then struck a hydro-power pole,” said police spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin.
“We’re not ruling out alcohol or speed at this time,” Taplin added. “We have to wait for the medical report as well as the RCMP reconstruction team has to do its report to determine the exact cause.”
Police say the victim’s name isn’t being released at this time.
