Betty’s Run raises $390K for ALS

Runners and walkers hit the pavement at North Glenmore Park yesterday to raise money and awareness for ALS during the 14th annual Betty’s Run.

While the event was fun- filled, many of the 1,500 participants were directly impacted by ALS, a rapidly degenerative and fatal disease.

First-time Betty’s Run participant Allison MacGregor said she was running “every step” for her neighbour and family friend who lost his battle to ALS.

“So I think if there’s one way to remember people that have had ALS it’s just coming out to an event like this,” said MacGregor.

Kelly Eaton, Betty’s daughter, said the support for the event has only grown over the years.

“It’s really amazing just to see all the support and see the legacy that my mom initiated.”

More than $390,000 was raised for the ALS Society of Alberta.
