Bieber in Twitter top trends 10

Canadian Justin Bieber has made another big year-end list, this time making Twitter’s Top 10 trends of 2010.

Canadian Justin Bieber has made another big year-end list, this time making Twitter’s Top 10 trends of 2010.

The social networking site says 25 billion tweets have been sent this year so far, and the top trend was talk about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Second was the World Cup, which generated massive attention and chatter worldwide. Vuvuzela, the buzzing horn that was the unofficial soundtrack to the event in South Africa, was fifth, and Pulpo Paul, the score-predicting octopus, was 10th.

The movie Inception was third, the earthquake in Haiti was fourth, the iPad was sixth, and Google Android was seventh. Bieber, who has more than 6.3 million followers on Twitter, was eighth and Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows was ninth.

Bieber fans responded with outrage earlier in the year after his name stopped appearing on Twitter’s list of trending topics, but Twitter explained that once a topic has become very popular it’s harder to appear on the list.
