Kia, Hyundai’s corporate cousin, has given us the first glimpse of the replacement for its current Magentis mid-size sedan. Unveiled at the just-concluded New York auto show, the 2009 Optima, as it’s badged for the U.S. market, we should see it north of the border by early fall.

The refreshed Magentis, which shares its platform, basic bodywork, etc. with the Hyundai Sonata, offers a completely modified exterior, which offers a more aggressive style than before, and is outfitted with a new engine that provides more power and fuel economy.

For 2009, the Magentis is also larger than its predecessors, which complements its distinctive new styling and separates itself from other vehicles in the growing midsize segment.
