Gangs Alberta Liberal justice critic Kent Hehr is challenging all MLAs to support a private member’s bill to give police more power in seizing street-gang owned property after a fatal triple shooting in Calgary.
The bill will allow a peace officer to seize a vehicle operated by a person charged with an offence under Section 94 of the Criminal Code, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
“It is not the solution, but could be part of a mix of tools to take on gangs,” Hehr said.
