Former model facing 4 counts after car accident
Disgraced media mogul Conrad Black and his first-born son could conceivably be behind bars at the same time.
Jonathan Black, a 30-year-old former model who is now a Toronto bond trader, was charged yesterday after a luxury car left the scene of an accident in the downtown core on Thursday evening.
He faces a total of four counts, one under the Criminal Code — failing to stop after an accident — and three under the Highway Traffic Act.
Toronto police say a silver Infiniti was headed east on King Street in the passing lane. It was not travelling at a high rate of speed when it struck a GMC Safari van driven by a Toronto resident.
Staff Sgt. Andy Norrie said after the impact, the driver of the Infiniti backed up the vehicle and drove away from the scene. However, witnesses were able to note the licence number and police tracked it to the registered owner’s residence in Toronto.
The driver of the van suffered minor back and neck injuries and was treated in hospital.
Investigators seized a damaged car matching the Infiniti’s description on Friday afternoon, and yesterday, Jonathan Black was charged.
