Shooting a person is not a victimless crime, but that seemed to be that case following a weekend incident in Ottawa.
Police responding to a report of a gunshot at around 7 p.m. on Saturday in an apartment building at 740 Springland Dr. discovered blood and a bullet casing, but no victim.
The incident is believed to have occurred in the hallway of the building. There were people in the adjacent apartments, but not in the hallway, at the time the gunshot was heard.
One of the investigating officers said police have been doing an enormous amount of canvassing while examining the incident that is being described as “an anomaly.”
A person was later found at an Ottawa hospital suffering from a wound described as similar to a gunshot, but police said yesterday it was too early to confirm if that person is connected to the shooting on Springland Drive.
