Ingredients:
- 3/4 lb (375 g) extra-lean ground beef
- 1 cup (250 ml) quick-cooking oats (uncooked)
- 2 tbsp (25 ml) ketchup
- 2 tsp (10 ml) Dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp (6 ml) black pepper
- 1/4 cup (50 ml) crumbled blue cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Romaine lettuce leaves
- 1 firm-ripe tomato, sliced
- 1 small red onion, sliced
Method:
1. Preheat broiler. Mix beef, oats, ketchup, mustard, and black pepper in large bowl until well blended. Divide into 8 equal pieces and flatten into thin patties.
2. Place 1 tbsp (15 mL) of crumbled cheese in the centre of each of 4 patties.
3. Top with remaining patties and pinch edges to seal.
4 Broil 4 inches from the heat until well done — 4 to 6 minutes per side. Serve burgers on buns with lettuce, tomato and red onion.
